A learning platform for professional Farriers

The purpose of starting the Farrier Academy is to fill a need in providing an online learning platform for aspiring farriers, whether as a study aid whilst attending one of the many schools available across the world, or embarking on an apprenticeship where the Journeyman is not able to facilitate teaching classes, and the student is dependant on “self-study”.

Our introductory offering is a Study Aid to assist in coming to grips with the theoretical side of farriery as covered in Gregory’s Textbook of Farriery. It is our firm belief that, if diligently used, this aid will properly equip the student to successfully sit the Certified Farrier exams, and to provide a really sound foundation for continued study towards higher qualifications.

It is envisaged that we will be putting up training videos with the view to guiding and preparing candidates for the practical Certification exams. We also hope to compile Study Aids to assist you in conquering the other Textbooks available.

This is a study aid, designed to help you work through GREGORY’S Textbook of Farriery in a structured and disciplined manner. If you stick to the guidelines and put in the time regularly, you should come away with a better than average grasp of the farriery theory contained in one of the leading farrier textbooks currently available!

No. The study aid is here to assist you towards preparation for sitting your formal exams. Our aim is to reduce the stress of taking expensive exams by enabling you to self-asses your knowledge.

Do you offer refunds?

John Murdoch

Subject matter expert (ASF AWCF)

John is responsible for compiling the subject matter on this learning platform, much of which is based on the publications of respected authors in the field of farriery. Having practiced as a professional farrier for the past 45 years, and having trained a number of young apprentices during this time, and also having achieved the ASF certification via the Farriers’ International Testing System (FITS) as well as successfully passing the examination required to become an Associate of the Worshipful Company of Farriers (London), we believe he is well qualified to ensure a well structured and easily understandable learning system for any aspiring farrier.
